As a toddler, Matt Lewis rode in the backseat of the family car surrounded by his brother, sister, and the sounds of Chuck Berry. He watched his Pop do his morning shaves while a record of Otis Redding spun. He convinced his Mom to buy him the G N' R Lies cassette when he was just eight years old, and he wore it out in a brown Fisher-Price cassette player. Matt cared about music long before he realized it.
He's always prided himself on appreciating any music that he simply enjoyed, regardless of the genre: oldies, R&B, classic rock, 80s pop, and the east-west rap rivalry of the mid-90s. Matt tried to drum along with all of them. If pressed to pick favorites, he goes back to the alternative rock and grunge from his teens and the country music he flocked to in his early twenties. Those formative years have a way of picking for him. His most scratched CDs and search history will reveal Tom Petty, Garth Brooks, Nirvana, Jodeci, Blake Shelton, Chicago, Marty Robbins, and Offspring, in no particular order.
Matt lives with his biggest supporters in Richmond, Virginia, and often hangs out in The Shop, which is his backyard office, occasional "campsite" with his little boy, and budding music studio once the rest of the family has turned in for the night. That is when he gets to enjoy creating songs.
